Recently, you might have noticed people throwing around the term grass-fed. Grass-fed beef, grass-fed butter, grass-fed gelatin. It’s become trendy and popular. A health fad. You may have even tried it before, without really knowing what it was or meant.

But here at Athlete’s Kitchen, we don’t like to get caught up in all the hype. We don’t throw around labels for no reason or just to make a buck. Instead, we do our research, figure out precisely what terms mean, and determine how good they really are.

That’s exactly what we did with grass-fed beef, and for once, the gossip was true. Here are the three main reasons grass-fed is the only beef we eat and the only beef we’ll serve:

You can taste the difference grass-fed makes. A perfectly grilled grass-fed steak is bursting with flavourful fat and savoury protein. It’s like no other beef you’ll ever try. And where does that great flavour come from?

  1. Nutrition 

That’s right, grass-fed beef actually has more nutrients. Compared to grain-fed, it has more vitamin A, vitamin E, potassium, iron, zinc and omega-3s.

But what’s even more important is what it doesn’t have. I know my butcher personally, he knows his farmers personally, and they know their animals personally. They’re raised with care, not pumped full of GMOs, hormones and antibiotics like most of the factory-farmed meat you’ll find at your local grocery store.

  1. The Perfect Marriage of Taste and Nutrition 

Yet, what makes grass-fed beef truly special is that it speaks for itself. Grill to a perfect medium-rare with a little salt and pepper, and you have a succulent, juicy steak that’s ready to be devoured. There’s no need for sugary sauce or hydrogenated oils.

Health food trends will continue to come and go, but some things are meant to last – things that are simple and natural and true. Like great taste and quality nutrition. Clean, healthy, delicious cooking. Using grass-fed beef makes it all possible.
